Reporting to parents
Ashton on Mersey School Sixth Form promotes independence; however we like to have a partnership with parents / carers to provide mutual support for the school and student. Parents / carers are welcome to visit or call the Sixth Form at any time to discuss any concerns you may have which impacts your son / daughter. Any person who wishes to speak to the Head of Learning or Director of Sixth Form, please contact Student Services who can arrange an appointment at your convenience. The Sixth Form will notify parents of academic performance, achievements and social development during the Parental Open Evening.

Dress Code
In keeping with accepted Professional and Commercial standards a Sixth Form student dress code exists to establish high quality professional standards and ethos. It will be appropiate for students to dress appropiately and professionally for their studies. For programmes of study where there is a large proportion of practical activities, appropiate practical clothing is required. In the Common, Social and Learning areas business dress is expected of all students. Full details of student guidelines can be found in the student handbook.

The Student Council
The Student Council is made up of a group of students who are elected by their peers to represent the interests of students at the Sixth Form and make decisions on a variety of student related issues.

The Council organise charity fund raising events, dances, the annual Leavers' Ball and the Sixth Form Yearbook. The Senior Management of the Sixth Form consults the Council whenever the views of students are required.

The social aspect of Sixth Form life is organised primarily by the Student Council. The Student Council have their own notice board where details of events such as the Sixth Form Ball, fundraising events and sports activities are advertised. A Student Newsletter is published bi-weekly. This is also an opportunity for advertising up and coming events in the Sixth Form and in the local community. Students are prompted to 'get involved' in every aspect of Sixth Form life.
