ICT, Business & Law Students take a trip to Barcelona, July 2009

AOM Business and ICT department ran their first 6th form overseas trip to Barcelona this summer; providing students with an opportunity to bring their classroom learning alive whilst enagaing with the cultural back drop that Barcelona offer.

The students visited Europe'slargest capacity football stadium, the Nou Camp; home to FC Barcelona. Here they witnessed the stadium using it's excess capacity out of season for a U2 concert played only two nights earlier, as well as visiting the Champions League trophy, snatch so cruelly away from Manchester Utd only 2 month earlier.

They also visited Port Vell and Port Olimpic, to see how the area had developed post the 1992 Olympic Games and to see what opportunities these bustling tourist areas could further take advantage of - particularly in light of the current economic climate. There were plenty ofopportunities too to take in the street art synonomus with Las Rambla, relax on the beach and shop in the many fashion boutique we come to expect from our major European cities.

The trip was a fabulous successwith the students showing a real enthusiasm for learning as well as a maturity in embracing the different cultures and lifestyles, that Barcelona most certainly possesses.
